Pattern of business better than anticipated: Consolidated income of Klöckner & Co much higher than last year in Q1 through Q3

18/10/2006

According to provisional figures for the first nine months of 2006, the EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of the Klöckner & Co Group stands at about 320 million euros. The Group disclosed an adjusted EBITDA of 150.6 million euros for the corresponding period of fiscal 2005.

After the deduction of special income totaling 40 million euros, in particular from the disposal of the Dutch company, AVZ, the EBITDA for the third quarter of 2006 totals some 97 million euros. Measured against the prior year's figure, the EBITDA for the third quarter of 2006 has thus doubled, chiefly thanks to larger sales volumes, improved margins and, therefore, an appreciably higher gross profit.

In view of the prevailing economic climate, the company expects the auspicious business situation to continue for the rest of 2006 as well. Its turnover and income for the whole of 2006 will be substantially higher than those posted in 2005.

Klöckner & Co is publishing more detailed information and the final figures for Q3 2006 on November 28, 2006. The data will be available on the internet at www.kloeckner.de from 08:00 CEST.
